Chocolate Cinnamon Porridge to Kickstart the New Year

Happy New Year to one and all! We wish you so much love and happiness for the year ahead. We've heard from so many people that the key to a happy 2020 will be taking better care of ourselves, self-love and self-care. Call it what you may, it starts with eating well. Once we take better care of ourselves, we can do the same those around us! So, we thought this festive porridge by Kate Tobar is a great way to start. Chocolate Cinnamon Porridge 

 

INGREDIENTS:

1/3 cup ROLLED oats (40g) ⚖️

2/3 cup water 💦 

1 banana 🍌 

1-2 dates 🍯 

1 tsp cacao nibs*

1 tbsp CRUNCHY peanut butter🥜

1 BIG tbsp Organic Drinking Cacao with Cinnamon cacao*

1/2 cup of raspberries 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1️⃣ Kate likes to TOAST the oats with the cocoa powder a bit while the pot is heating up ⚠️, giving a better flavour to the porridge 🥣🤷🏻‍♀️👩🏻‍🍳

2️⃣Add DOUBLE the amount of LIQUID (as a rule for when cooking dry grains or legumes). Kate says " I use WATER because I save my oat m*lk for my morning coffee ☕️ 🌱"

3️⃣ Cook on the stove for around 8 minutes slowing down the hit at the end and ADD a pinch of SALT👌🏼 Kate says it's a GAME CHANGER for porridge!

4️⃣ Once it’s done, let it cool down and in the meantime prepare your toppings 😋 For this special occasion, Kate used banana 🍌+ cacao nibs 🍫 + peanut butter 🥜+ frozen berries 🍓.
